WASHINGTON (KDKA) — An Oakdale man accused of using a baseball bat to break a window at the Capitol and throw objects at officers during the Jan. 6 riot has been sentenced to more than four years in prison.
Jordan Mink pleaded guilty in January to assault, resist or prevent certain officers from using a dangerous weapon; theft of government property; and help and fulfill. On Monday, he was sentenced to 51 months in prison followed by 36 months of supervised release and $2,000 in restitution.
Mink was one of the first local suspects to be arrested in connection with the deadly attack.
According to court documents, Mink used a baseball bat to smash a window at the Capitol. He then allegedly went through the broken window and removed property, such as chairs, from the Capitol, passing it to the crowd outside. He is also accused of trying to break another window.
Prosecutors said Mink assaulted the officers, spitting on them and throwing various objects such as a traffic cone at them. He also used a “long stick” to “violently and repeatedly” hit the officers at the entrance, prosecutors said.
