VERSAILLES, Ky. (LEX 18) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Friday around 4 p.m.
The collision occurred near mile marker 64 on the Bluegrass Parkway in Woodford County.
A Ford Explorer operated by Justin Vanderwater was traveling westbound on the highway when it veered into the emergency lane and struck a pedestrian who was trying to pull the load onto a trailer.
Heather Sowers, 44, of Nicholasville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vanderwater was arrested and booked into the Woodford County Detention Center. He is charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol 1st offense, reckless endangerment and vehicular homicide.
