DEEP officials said out of an abundance of caution to protect the airport environment and vehicles on Route 20, they made this decision.
WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. – A moose was euthanized by environmental authorities after it trespassed on property at Bradley International Airport on Friday.
DEEP officials said they received a report of an antelope being seen near the airport. Police and DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Wildlife Division personnel went to the scene.
The moose was on property in the vicinity of the airport and had breached an exterior perimeter fence. Out of an abundance of caution, to protect the airport environment and vehicles on Route 20, EnCon’s Division of Police and Wildlife made the decision to euthanize the moose.

DEEP officials said when moose roam high-traffic areas such as airports and public highways it can be a public safety concern, and both DEEP and airport personnel are authorized to euthanize a moose if deemed necessary
