UPDATE 5:10 p.m
Roscommon Sheriff’s Office say information is limited and it is early in the investigation, but they are looking for some leads.
“The kids saw that there was a witness who saw the kids leaving an SUV,” said Lt. Angela Ackley of Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Services.
Deputies say Tamara Perez, 15, and Iris Perez, 13, went missing between 7:30 and 8 Wednesday night. They were seen leaving in an SUV, but they don’t know who they might have left with.
“There has been no contact since they were last seen last night,” Ackley said.
Tamara was last seen wearing a green Boynton T-shirt and blue jeans. He is 5′3″, 120 lbs. She is African American with side braids worn in a bun, she also has a tattoo of a star in black ink with red in the middle on her neck.
Iris was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with an American flag tucked inside red lips, green wool pajamas with moons and stars. He is of mixed race with straight and curly hair. He is 5 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds.
The sheriff’s office is also looking for a newer white Jeep Cherokee that witnesses say was seen in the area at the time of the abduction.
“We believe the Jeep Cherokee found in the surveillance video is involved because it was in the area for a short period of time and then left and never came back, as mentioned by witnesses. The children were seen entering in an SUV, so we believe that vehicle may be involved,” Ackley said.
Deputies also say they are working with law enforcement in Florida to try to find the girls’ biological family.
“His rights were terminated in the state of Florida. We are actively working with the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center, Michigan State Police and Florida area agencies to try to identify if the birth family is currently in the Flordia State,” Ackley said.
An Amber Alert has not yet been issued.
“Most of the criteria are in danger of extinction due to damage. And at this point, there’s no indication that the kids didn’t get into the vehicle with someone they knew and go off on their own,” Ackley said.
The sheriff’s office said none of the girls had a cell phone to track their whereabouts.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of these two girls, please call the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office at 989-275-5101.
