A man was arrested earlier this week in connection with a shooting death outside a northeast Houston apartment complex in May.
The Houston Police Department arrested Maurice Dewayne Smith, 17, at 12:48 a.m. Monday, according to court documents. Smith was charged in the May 26 killing of 17-year-old Dearon Stout, officials said.
Tthe shooting happened around 5:10 pm at an apartment complex at 6767 Bennington Street, according to a news release from the Houston Police Department.

According to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, Stout was found dead on the sidewalk of a building at the apartment complex.
His official cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, according to the report.
Smith’s bond is set at $125,000.
