PARKERSBURG – A member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from Wood County has the most contributions so far among those running as pre-candidates, according to second-quarter financial disclosures filed with the Secretary of State.
Delegate Vernon Criss, R-12th, reported a final balance of $14,414 from an excess fund transfer.
The returns for the second quarter of 2023 were due on Friday. The pre-candidacy allows you to raise funds without committing to run for the intended position. The filing period for the 2024 election is in January.
Criss filed to run for District 12 in April. He is president of the Finance Committee of the Chamber and has been part of the Chamber of Delegates since 2017.
Delegate Bill Anderson, R-10th, reported a closing balance of $13,820 from a matching contribution from the Committee to Elect Bill Anderson 2020 in March.
Anderson is chairman of the House Energy and Manufacturing Committee. He has served in the House, first in the former District 8, since 1993.
Delegate Scott Heckert, R-13th, reported year-to-date contributions of $2,720 and a balance of $945.
The first-term delegate reported contributions during the reporting period of $1,000 from lobbyist Michael Haid of Charleston and $1,620 from a fundraiser at Jimmie Colombo’s Italian restaurant. Heckert also reported expenses of $1,774.
Rep. Bob Fehrenbacher, R-11th, a retired plant manager at Chemours, filed as a pre-candidate for an undeclared position. Fehrenbacher reported a $100 ending balance for the year from a $100 contribution from Gladys Lemley.
He also ran as a pre-candidate for an undeclared position, Robert C. Cornelius of Parkersburg. He reported no contributions or expenses and a zero balance for the period.
