After his first unofficial visit to Wisconsin last year, Anelu Lafaele (Honolulu, Hawai.) proclaimed the Badgers as their leader. While things inevitably soured over time, Lafaele ended up staying true, announcing his commitment to UW on Tuesday.

“From my first visit there, I felt at home,” Lafaele told Badger247. “I see myself playing there. I have good relationships up there. It’s pretty impressive.”

Lafaele chose the Badgers over fellow finalists Arizona State, Washington and Hawaii. The 247sports four-star running back also offered scholarships from Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, California, Washington State, BYU, Vanderbilt and Oregon State.

Lafaele took his official visit to UW the weekend of June 2nd. Sources told Badger247 that Lafale gave his verbal commitment while on campus.

“It was awesome,” Lafaele said. “It’s great over there in the summer. We got to be with the players and the coaching staff. It was amazing.”

The second outside linebacker commitment for UW in 2024, Lafele joins Thomas Heiberger (Sioux Falls, SD) for OLB coach Matt Mitchell.

“He told me he wanted me to take the outside linebacker spot,” Lafaele explained. “He likes me as a pass rusher. I’m going to be really fired up for them. They’re just going to take one more outside linebacker and I’m the guy they want.”

Lafaele continues to maintain the Hawaii to Madison pipeline. While he will be finishing his senior year at Farrington High School, Lafaele spent the first three seasons of his high school career at Central St. Louis, which sent Nick Herbig, Kamo’i Latu and Trech Kekahuna to UW.

The Badgers now own 18 verbal commitments in their class of 2024. Per 247sports, Lafaele is the No. 21 running back in the nation and the No. 2 prospect from the state of Hawaii.
