Torquay United’s plans for 2023/24 have been given a further boost with news that goalkeeper Rhys Lovett will extend his stay at Plainmoor after agreeing a new deal for 2023/24.
After arriving at Plainmoor last summer, the Birmingham-born 25-year-old made eight appearances for The Gulls last term and, having established himself as a popular member of the squad, Rhys decided to take his place alongside Mark Halstead. in United’s goalkeeping department is another welcome development ahead of the highly anticipated 2023/24 campaign.
Having handed Lovett his youth debut at Cheltenham Town five years ago, Torquay boss Gary Johnson is delighted to have secured another key addition to next season’s squad.
“It’s great that we’ve added Rhys to our team,” Johnson said.
“Rhys has done very well when he has reached the first team. He has a great future ahead of him as a goalkeeper, and the fact that he has been signed a couple of times by a couple of Clubs is proof of his undoubted ability.
“He is a great professional and gives his all every day.”
