WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Changes have been made to the places you can put up political signs in Wichita.
On Tuesday, the Wichita City Council approved an ordinance that allows an unlimited number of temporary signs on private property during an election period.
Temporary signs are also permitted in the public “right-of-way” (a publicly accessible road, road, or footpath legally recognized as a route for public use) as long as they are not adjacent to public property, do not impinge on traffic and are removed after the election.

District 5 Councilman Bryan Frye calls it a “good compromise.”
“It protects us in the safety of drivers and pedestrians and does not limit the lines of sight. But it does allow the private property owner to put up the signs and also manage their property as they see fit,” Frye said.
The new rules apply to any political sign, regardless of content.
