Boskalis and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a contract for the construction of approximately 40 hectares of new land on the north-west corner of Prinses Alexiahaven in Maasvlakte 2.

In addition to building the site, Boskalis will also build two sand dams.
Behind these sand dams, the sand that will be available in the coming years during the deepening of the harbor basins can be deposited and reused to create new land in an efficient way.

According to Boskalis, the number of available sites in the existing port area is becoming scarcer, which is why the Rotterdam Port Authority is now starting to build new sites at Maasvlakte 2.
